One of the questions we’re often asked is how we collaborate with our clients throughout the design process. Our answer is tried and true, and very simple: we collaborate deeply in the beginning, and then we take it from there.
At the start of a project, collaboration is essential. This is where we take the time to truly understand our clients – how they live, their inspiration, their likes and dislikes, their non-negotiables, and how they want their home to function day-to-day. We approach this phase in a very intentional and organized way, creating a strong foundation and understanding that reflects both their lifestyle and their vision. Through initial consultations, kickoff meetings, detailed questionnaires, and early concept conversations, we gather everything we need to move forward with clarity. These conversations allow us to align on direction before any design decisions are made, ensuring the process feels thoughtful rather than overwhelming.
One thing we’re mindful of is protecting our clients from the parts of the process that can quickly become exhausting. Walking through showrooms or visiting design centers without a clear plan can be incredibly overwhelming, even for us. Without a defined direction, it’s easy to spend hours looking without making meaningful progress. That’s not how we work. Instead, we take what we’ve learned and begin designing behind the scenes. This is where we develop the full vision for the home, from space planning and materials to furnishings and all of the layers that bring a space together. Every decision is made with intention, grounded in the conversations we’ve had from the start.
When we present the design, it’s not a collection of options. It’s a fully realized plan. Clients can see how each space flows together, from the largest pieces down to the smallest details, all thoughtfully considered and aligned with the vision we established together. Revisions can be made here if requested by the client.
From there, our team manages the logistics of ordering, coordinating with vendors, and overseeing every detail to ensure the process runs smoothly. There are, of course, moments where we reconnect with clients as needed to keep them updated on the process and timeline, but the heavy lifting is handled on our end so they don’t have to navigate the complexities.
Installation is when the vision becomes reality; furnishings are placed, layers are added, and the home begins to feel complete. It’s also when our clients get to experience their fully realized vision come to life in their space for the first time.
This approach allows us to create homes that feel deeply personal, while also making the process seamless and efficient for our clients. It’s not about constant back-and-forth. It’s about collaborating with intention, building a strong foundation, and then bringing that vision to life with clarity and expertise.
