The Pillow Edit began long before the first pillow was ever made.
From the earliest days of my design career, I was drawn to textiles. There is something special about the way color, pattern, and texture work together to tell a story and bring a room to life. Whether selecting fabric for custom drapery, upholstery, or pillows, those layers have always been my favorite parts of the design process.
As my business grew, so did our collection of remnant fabrics. After installations were complete, beautiful pieces of fabric would remain –– too small for a full project, yet far too special to discard. Over the years, those remnants accumulated, each one carrying memories of the homes they had been selected for.
What began as a growing collection of saved textiles eventually sparked an idea: what if these fabrics could become something new? That idea became The Pillow Edit.
While the collection exists separately from our interior design projects, it is deeply connected to the way we approach design. At Lacey Michalek Interiors, we believe homes should feel layered, elevated, and reflective of the people who live in them. The smallest details often have the greatest impact, and pillows are one of our favorite tools for introducing those finishing layers.
A thoughtfully chosen pillow can soften a room, introduce color and pattern, add texture, and create the collected feeling that makes a space feel complete.
Each pillow begins with the fabric itself. Once a remnant textile makes its way into our collection, we evaluate each piece by hand, determining what sizes and quantities can be produced based on the fabric available. From there, the fabrics are sent to one of our trusted workrooms, where each pillow is handcrafted with care and attention to detail.
The process is intentionally small-scale, allowing each piece to feel considered rather than mass-produced. The result is a collection where no two pillows are exactly alike.
What makes The Pillow Edit special is not just the fabrics themselves, but the stories behind them.
Many of these textiles once lived in a custom-designed home, selected for a dining room, a bedroom, a family room, or a favorite reading chair. They were originally chosen because of their beauty, quality, and ability to contribute to a larger design story. Now, they have the opportunity to begin a new one. Each pillow offers a chance to bring a layer of that thoughtful design into a new space.
The Pillow Edit is now available online. We’re so excited to finally share these pieces with you and hope you find one that feels at home in your space!
